This is the famous British 1796 pattern Light Cavalry Sword.
Designed by the great John Le Marchant and introduced in 1796. This Sword became the Iconic British Sword of the Napoleonic Wars.
It saw the rise and fall of Napoleon and they were carried in their thousands at Waterloo. A fantastic piece of history that you can own!
Condition:
This sword is solid. The blade is mostly clean but with a speckling of patination. The scabbard is in good condition for its age with slight inactive pits on the metal.
The grip is original but has a crack that runs through the leather on one side. However there is no looseness as a result and the Sword still likes to be handled.
Due to the crack this sword is available at a very reasonable price. You wont find one cheaper elsewhere.
